What Does Full Faith and Credit Mean for Survivors of Abuse?
The full faith and credit provision of VAWA can enable survivors of abuse to call on law enforcement officers and the courts to enforce their orders protection across state or tribal lines. When survivors cross jurisdictional lines to work, travel, or relocate, they often find themselves in on-going danger since frequently they are pursued or stalked by their abusers. For this reason, VAWA establishes nationwide enforcement of orders of protection.
