BWJP Military-Civilian Advocate Resource Network
The Military/Civilian Advocate Resource Network provides technical assistance, resources, and support for all advocates, military and civilian, who serve military and veteran families and work with victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual assault, and stalking who have been impacted by military service. BWJP provides webinars and training to increase the capacity of victim advocates to address the unique issues and challenges involved when working with military-related IPV victims and advocating within the military and veteran systems. BWJP moderates a listserv that provides an opportunity for victim advocates working with military-related victims to network and share information and advice.
BWJP Military-Civilian Advocate Resource Network Goes Public and Launches Listserv The Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP) Military-Civilian Advocate Resource Network is now open to the public and can be accessed at http://military-civilianadvocatenetwork.wikispaces.com/. This means that all of the extensive information about intimate partner violence (IPV) involving military service members and veterans and their families that was on the private site is now available to the public. It includes: - Information about the Department of Defense, Reserves, National Guard, and Department of Veterans Affairs systems and their response to IPV.
- Pertinent articles and research on IPV and co-occurring conditions such as combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder.
- Information on justice-involved veterans and veterans treatment courts.
- Links to related Websites and resources.
A listserv has been launched to replace the discussion component of the previous site. This listserv will allow both military and civilian victim advocates to network and share information and to request consultation with subject matter experts with specialized expertise working with military members, veterans, and their families. (Note: This listserv is separate from the BWJP Military-Related Legal Technical Assistance Project listserv for attorneys and legal advocates.)
Glenna Tinney, BWJP’s Military Advocacy Program Coordinator, is the moderator for the listserv and is available to provide technical assistance. She can be reached via email at gtinney@bwjp.org or by phone at 1-703-822-8118 (direct number) or 1-800-903-0111 x 1 then x 258 (voicemail). JOIN THE LISTSERV NOW!
