This article describes a 4-part framework which provides an approach for practitioners who are making decisions in family court cases. The framework encourages these practitioners to 1) identify if domestic abuse is present, 2) understand the nature, context, and severity of that abuse, 3) determine any implications of that abuse, and 4) account for the nature, context and implications of abuse in all their decisions.
