Parenting evaluations are frequently offered in contested custody cases, and many professionals who conduct them do not have expertise or training in domestic violence. Survivors, advocates, and attorneys are often frustrated with the parenting evaluation process and results. Presenters discuss their experience developing a practice guide on domestic violence for parenting evaluators, and what they were and weren’t able to accomplish in promoting a domestic violence protocol for evaluations in their community. Participants will become familiar with the contents of the practice guide and gain insight into how they might be able to use it to improve practice in their own communities.
