Safety planning for domestic violence has changed little in decades and still relies heavily on one-size-fits-all checklists. This workshop describes an alternative risk assessment framework, Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), which is common in environmental science and other fields where they also deal with complex problems. This workshop teaches the use of the VIGOR, an MCDM-based, holistic, family-centered approach to safety planning with victims of domestic violence. Data from two studies using the VIGOR will be presented and copies of the tool will be provided to all participants.
