Battered women and their children are often “sandwiched” between child custody proceedings and the Child Protection System (CPS). This webinar focuses on the systemic structures, assumptions and beliefs of family courts and child welfare that can result in barriers for safety and present options for systemic change that address these barriers. Can child protection be a “partner” with battered women to protect children when battering behaviors create a level of harm to children requiring state intervention The presenter shares changes in West Virginia that have made such a partnership possible.
