Published: October, 2015| James E. Henderson Jr., MSW, New Mexico Batterer Intervention Task Force

This video features BWJP’s own James E. Henderson Jr., MSW, who presents critical probation recommendations to the New Mexico Batterer Intervention Task Force, which was convened by the New Mexico Senate to analyze various aspects of domestic violence offender treatment. Henderson encourages a victim-centered approach to probation practices which hold offenders on DV supervision accountable through creative policies and swift and certain sanctions. He also provides concrete recommendations for the courts. Henderson strongly encourages probation departments to maintain strong ties to community-based advocacy programs, as well as other criminal justice system intervention partners.
