VAWA Reauthorized in the Senate!

March 11th, 2022

BWJP is thrilled that the Violence Against Women Act (“VAWA”) has been passed by both chambers of the United States Congress. This pivotal piece of legislation is vital in protecting all people against gender-based violence. “VAWA  is critical legislation for the country,” says Amy J. Sánchez, BWJP’s Chief Executive Officer, “It provides much needed financial support to our projects and creates important programming so that systems can truly put survivor’s needs at the center of the work.” The bill is now headed to President Biden’s desk for his signature. BWJP houses the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms, the National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith and Credit, the National Legal Resource Center for Children and Domestic Violence and the Intimate Partner Violence Intervention program, all fully or partially funded by VAWA.
