Dr. Klein reviews the findings and recommendations of the New York State Teen Protection Order study. It is the first to examine implementation of POs to address teen dating violence. New York amended its PO statute effective July 2008 to allow juvenile and teens without a child in common to obtain POs for dating violence. While not as yet widely utilized by teen dating violence victims, the research suggests such orders potentially constitute an important tool for teen victims in terms of deterring future violence. Teen victims in this study were satisfied with the process and outcomes of their PO applications.
