This morning the supreme court announced their ruling on the New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. The courts decisions has significant implications on our efforts to reduce intimate partner related gun violence and homicide.

The supreme court ruled that gun control laws like those that exist in New York should be struck down, this decision made by the highest court, is going to put more victims of intimate partner violence at risk of gun violence. A person who uses violence against their intimate partners, owns a gun, and they have a permit to conceal and carry it makes it more dangerous to the public because often times gun violence between intimate partners spills out into the streets, our places of employment, our places of worship, our grocery stores, outdoor concerts and festivals, and our schools.
